Start date: 10 May 2026
End date: 19 May 2026
All-day event
Location: Northern Greece and Albania
Whats on

Explore the Northern end of the Pindos mountain range with Alice where it crosses the border from Greece into Albania. Starting in Northern Greece with visits to the Vikos Gorge, Valia Calda and Mount Tymphi, we will look for the rare and local Ophrys helenae, along with a multitude of other orchids, lilies and wildflowers. Birds like Bee-eaters and butterflies such as Eastern Festoon and Grecian Copper will also be on our radar.

Moving into the rugged landscape of southern Albania, we will spend some time on the banks of the Vjosa river, one of the last intact large river systems in Europe, explore meadows and woodlands in search of flowers such as Leucojum aestivum, Ophrys epirotica and Moltkia petraea, marvel at views of Red-rumped Swallow and Hoopoe, listen to Nightingales and watch Grüner’s Orange-tip and Duke of Burgundy butterflies.
