Whats on

Alice is excited to be co-leading a new holiday for 2026 to the Sierra Nevada with Greenwings. This tour focuses on butterflies, wildflowers and world heritage, taking in three of Andalusia’s most biodiverse landscapes for a wonderful mix of wildlife, large and small, plus endemic flora. Among the highlights are, Spanish Swallowtail. Sierra Nevada Blue, Mother-of-Pearl Blue, Southern Blue, Zullich’s Blue, Lorquin’s Blue and the local subspecies of Apollo (Parnassius apollo subsp. nevadensis). In floral terms, Pinguicula nevadensis, Gentiana sierrae, Aquilegia cazorlensis and Viola cazorlensis are some of the endemics to look out for. Iberian Ibex, Vultures, Rock Sparrow, Trumpeter Finch and a wide range of other wildlife is also possible. Of course, no trip to this region is complete without a guided tour of the iconic Alhambra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and masterpiece of Islamic architecture.

Alice has not written a blog about this location, but there are a few landscape images from the area (albeit taken in winter!) in her Landscape Gallery.
